Dr Rowena Garner is a highly trained and experienced Obstetrician & Gynaecologist, who is passionate about providing outstanding professional Healthcare in all areas of Women's health. Her kind, caring and compassionate nature makes her extremely popular with her patients, along with of course, her extensive knowledge and specialist surgical skills in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. 

Rowena had a wonderful childhood, growing up in the seaside town of Newcastle Australia with her family. Upon completion of her school years and her higher school certificate, Rowena was accepted into the University of Newcastle/University of New England, where she began her Bachelor Degree in Clinical Science. This degree focuses on understanding the cause, nature, diagnosis and progression of diseases and why they occur. It also involves extensive research into disease prevention, management and treatment. After several years of study, Rowena successfully completed her Bachelor of Biomedical Science at the University of Newcastle.  

Following on from this, Rowena then embarked on obtaining her Medical degree and in 2012, Rowena completed her Bachelor of Medicine, also at the University of Newcastle.

Dr Garner largely completed her Obstetric and Gynaecology training at Nepean Hospital in Penrith. It was during that time that she worked closely with, and extensively trained with A/Prof Pardey, Dr Wallwork, Dr Pixton, Dr Wang,  and Dr Dahiya in all areas of Obstetric and Gynaecological care, surgical skills and advanced Laparoscopic training. She has also  undertaken rotations in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and surgery, at Westmead and Orange Hospitals.   

More recently,  Dr Garner completed her Advanced training at the Royal Darwin Hospital, where she developed further skills, and enjoyed the unique experiences gained from caring for women in regional and remote Women's Health, and in Aboriginal Women's Health.

It was during her time working as a Registrar and then Senior Registrar at Nepean Hospital with A/Prof. John Pardey, that John was so impressed with Dr Garner, that he personally invited her to join him in his Private Practice as a full Associate. He identified Dr Garner as someone who he very much wanted to continue to care for his Obstetric patients following his retirement at the end of 2023, and he was thrilled when she accepted his invitation. 

In 2023, Rowena was awarded her Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetrician’s and Gynecologists (RANZCOG).

It was also in early 2023 that Rowena  began her own Private Obstetric and Gynaecological practice, and joined John Pardey & Associates, as a Senior Associate.

Rowena's private practice has grown significantly in the past 12 months, and she is very popular with both her new and existing patient. She holds a VMO position at Nepean Private Hospital, and is also a Senior staff specialist at Nepean Hospital where she continues to train and mentor Registrars and Junior Doctors in all areas of Obstetrics, Gynaecology, and Surgery.   Dr Garner operates and delivers babies, at both hospitals.

Aside from her busy Medical Career, the incredible Dr Garner is also studying part-time and working towards completing her Masters of Business Administration (MBA) degree. Following her completion of this degree, she hopes to offer her addition skills to the Public Hospital sector in the area of Healthcare/Business management. 

In her personal life, Rowena has now settled permanently in Western Sydney, and lives locally to the Penrith area. In her spare time she loves exploring the local narional parks, planning holidays to remote destinations to see natural wonders, and most of all, spending time with her two gorgeous little dogs.
